CBT

Compulsory Basic Training
for motorcyclists and
moped riders

Most learner motorcycle and learner moped riders must complete a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course before riding on the road.

CBT courses can only be provided by Scotriders and other DSA Approved Training Bodies (ATBs). If you do not complete the course in one day, you can return to us - free of charge - to complete it.

CBT – additional on-road motorcycle training

Duration: Minimum 6hrs for CBT + 6, 9 or 12 lessons. (90-minute lessons)

Once you have successfully completed the CBT, you are advised to take additional training to pass your tests and qualify for a full motorcycle or moped licence.

We provide the opportunity for you to combine your CBT with additional on-road training and make cost savings at the same time.

The amount of on-road training you require will depend on a number of variables, including but not limited to previous experience of riding motorcycles / push bikes, driving cars, having your own machine and so on.

To this end, we offer a range of combined courses which we can tailor to suit your needs.

Thanks very much to Scotriders, only passed my CBT with them in August 2010. Never been on a bike before and Alan and Heather had the patience to talk me through everything. Was in very safe hands and enjoyed every minute of it. Look forward to furthering my biking education with them next year.
